Michael Bösch receives Alfred Brenner Scholarship 2011

Michael Bösch is only 24 years old but has already achieved a great deal. His latest success: He has just been awarded the Alfred Brenner Scholarship 2011.

“Each new experience is an opportunity to learn and improve, which is why I am open for new things and always on the lookout for new challenges,” explains Michael Bösch his application for the coveted scholarship. He will use it to finance his Masters studies at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef* Bonn.

Michael Bösch, the winner

Having trained as a chef, the scholarship will now enable Michael Bösch to study International Hospitality and Tourism Management at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef* Bonn. So far, he has gained on the job experience both in renowned German establishments and as Food & Beverage Executive in “The Racha” in Phuket, Thailand. All testimonials attest that the committed young man has displayed “excellent accomplishments, a high degree of professional interest and great ambition”.

The other candidates

All young catering staff, e.g. chefs, restaurant and hotel managers, under 29 years of age who have achieved one of the top two marks in their vocational qualification or have been commended by the Chamber of Commerce can apply for the Alfred Brenner Scholarship. Its top award of € 3,000 is tied to some form of further vocational studies and will be granted, once evidence has been provided, within 24 months.

In 2011 Michael Bösch beat the following competitors: Wulf T. Holldorf (Breidenbacher Hof, Düsseldorf), Patrick Kroll (Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Baden-Baden), Jennifer Krug (Kameha Grand Bonn), Karoline Nicolai (Grand Hotel Heiligendamm), Marcel Sambale (Mandarin Oriental Munich), Daniela Schölisch (Hotel Franz Keller Schwarzer Adler, Oberbergen/DHBW Ravensburg and Britta Seifriz (Hotel Bareiss /DHBW Ravensburg).

All candidates achieved excellent results in their written and oral exams and impressed with their practical presentations. They all received a prestigious certificate to add to their CVs/resumes.

At this year’s 8th award of the Alfred Brenner Scholarship the members of the jury were once again delighted with the young people’s knowledge and commitment.

The Alfred Brenner Foundation

The Alfred Brenner Foundation (Alfred-Brenner-Stiftung) honours the memory of the great hotelier Alfred Brenner, who gave his name to the renowned grand hotel in the Lichtentaler Allee in Baden-Baden. Created in the belief that a hotel of international standing bears a responsibility to its industry and to society in general, the foundation aims to support young talent in Germany’s high-end restaurant and hotel business.
