Brenners Parkvilla newly revamped
05-29-2008
Currently the newly revamped Brenners Parkvilla is being opened following extensive restoration work on the premises of Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden.
"We wanted to set standards with this project," was the comment of Frank Marrenbach, the Managing Director of the Grand Hotel on the Lichtentaler Allee. The new Brenners Parkvilla embraces 600 square metres of luxurious living space with suites on the ground storey and the first floor and the Penthouse Suite on the second storey.
Apart from, bedrooms and salons all floors also contain rooms for security and/or staff. The Penthouse Suite represents a contemporary version of the traditional Presidential Suite: with separate entrance, bulletproof windows and other enhanced safety standards, a fireplace in all the rooms, a separate salon for private talks and dinners. A terrace of its own and its own garden, a private lift to Brenners Spa and direct access to the private Spa Suite that is included in the price round off the exquisite picture of an absolutely luxurious domicile on Brenners terrain.
The furnishings were undertaken by the renowned interior designer Birgit Gräfin Douglas, who is for example responsible for the elegant ambiente of the new Brenner gastronomy.
The revamped Brenners Parkvilla opens up a new era in the building's history, which was integrated in the premises of the then "Brenners" as the "Villa Knorrimg" in the mid-1920s. At the start of the 1950s initial renovation and expansion of the property now known as the "Parkvilla" took place, further measures were to follow during the 1960 and 1980s.
Today's "Brenners Parkvilla" was accorded a special role during the 1960s within the town of Baden-Baden's Franco-German history for the first time: this is where preliminary talks took place in February 1962 on the Franco-German Treaty of Friendship between the French President Charles de Gaulle and Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. In July 1980 Valery Giscard d'Estaing was a visitor here, Jacques Chirac and Helmut Kohl met here for the 66th Franco-German summit in 1995.
Many other heads of state not simply from Europe have resided here and placed their stamp on the House's flair until today. With the Brenners Parkvilla", comments Frank Marrenbach, "we are supplementing what we have to offer by means of an important element to ensure we continue to occupy a leading place among the top hotels of Europe."
