Today I thought it would be interesting to provide you with an insight to somewhere normally out of view to hotel guests…
Has it ever crossed your mind as to whether we, the Brenners team, also dine like royalty? Michelin star chef Paul Stradner doesn't cook for us personally, that's one thing I can tell you, but our staff bistro is in fact a centrepiece of the hotel! It is the place where all staff can meet and congregate - whether it be early in the morning, during the lunch break or at the end of the working day.
A large blackboard greets us as soon as we walk in informing all of the dishes on offer on that particular day. Planned and managed by Executive Chef Rudolf Pellkofer, this covers everything from meat, fish and seasonal vegetables to vegetarian meals and a salad buffet. There's also dessert! A piece of cake or a small pudding as well as fresh fruit. And to make sure no one leaves hungry, our colleagues behind the counter are more than willing to oblige with second helpings.
What more could you ask for? Perhaps a cup of coffee to follow? This is naturally also taken care of: cappuccino, latte macchiato and hot chocolate ... and espresso for those in a hurry.
Also worth a mention is the bistro telephone, accessible to all who need to make a quick call. Discreetly hidden behind a little door in the wall it even sometimes takes us by surprise when it starts ringing!
Also special is our small second-hand bookshop opposite the buffet. Literary enthusiasts interested in the history of cooking, nutrition or international cocktails will be in their element here and can take out a book on loan.
Those wishing to know who has been particularly busy in the last few months can glance at the roll of honour for our Quality Award for Service Excellence on which the name of the member of staff for the previous month appears.
And before we all head back to work, we can quickly check our appearance in the large mirror on the wall - now everything is set for the day to continue! In short: the Brenners Bistro… a place for relaxing, chatting and recharging your batteries!
